Customer Reviews Roger Fleischer Said: Great touch ( Nov. 16th 2009 )This keyboard has great touch. I use it for general purposes, not gaming, and none of the special functions interest me--other than the volume control. This is by far the best keyboard for general use I have owned--ever, and I have been a user since the first portable (transportable) computer (Kaypro) came on the market in the early 1980's). It's far better than any of the many I have used.Noel Ang Said: Substandard gaming keyboard ( Nov. 12th 2009 )The Sidewinder X6 is solidly built. The variable keyboard illumination is sharp, and the use of an analog dial for volume control dial was a sound and welcome usability decision. Unfortunately, as a keyboard billed primarily for its "gaming performance," it suffers significantly from ghosting issue that makes it unsuitable for a certain style of gaming: The keyboard is unable to process many 3-keypress combinations, such as CTRL + W + R. If you're a touch-typist comfortable with and reliant on key chording, this keyboard will disappoint you. The problem appears to be with the hardware, because it occurs whether or not you use the keyboard software support specifically intended for it. I found the keyboard so good in all other respects, that I found this crucial design flaw severely disappointing.K. brown Said: too cool ( Nov. 4th 2009 )my son the major gamer thinks this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. it is pretty easy to figure out. i have to admit it looks good in the dark. he says the key arrangement is great. if you have a serious gamer in the house this seems to be the best one.M. McKissick Said: Only one complaint ( Oct. 26th 2009 )This is my first gaming keyboard. I've been using a standard keyboard and a Cyber Snipa game pad... Love the game pad therefore will never use the keypad that switches sides. Pros: Lights up to see easier in the darker conditions Volume is nice on a knob instead of a up button, down button, and mute button Programable keys on Left S1-S12 and in the keypad S13-S30 Cons: Switchable Keypad = useless for gaming No legs to tilt it up The Esc key is small The programable S1-S12 on the left are easily hit by accident when first learning to type on this keyboard and especially when using the Ctrl button. I routinely hit S1 instead of Esc and S6 instead of Ctrl. Overall, it's doing the job of keyboard very nicely and the job of Gaming keyboard is mixed, but mostly bad. The intended purpose to switch the keypad to use as a gaming pad for the left hand to replace the standard ASDW keys is a poor attempt. The keypad is too slim and you cannot use your pinky for anything such as Run, Crouch, or Prone where you normally would use the Shift, Ctrl, and Z buttons. The unintended gaming aspect of the normal ASDW keys with the programable S1-S12 keys closely on your left do make for a better gaming keyboard. Bottom line = Get a separate game pad. I would recommend it as a cool looking keyboard that can have the keypad removed or switched for some reason... but NOT a good gaming keyboard alone.Michael L. Tajima Said: Nice try; but fail.. ( Sep. 26th 2009 )Fail when compared to G15 or any logitech keyboard for that matter. Before i list all the cons ill give its pros... PROS it has some very nice innovating things like the a ridge on the F and J keys so u know where u are without looking at the keyboard. I like the feel of the F keys. The lighting under the wasd keys are excellent as well. Also the knobs are nice. The keyboard seems sturdy and the hand rest seems natural. Movable keypad is a plus. CONS Keys- The keys feel cheaply made, and the coating doesn't seem right. I think they chose the wrong type of plastic for the keys. They feel off. Also typing on this keyboard is seriously lame. The keys are loud. Every push has an audible sound. The space bar especially has an annoying thumping sound and feels loose. Key placement is ODD. escape key WRONG PLACE= fail. also other keys feel...awkward. It will most defiantly need getting used to. Lighting-the lighting is too dim under normal lighting conditions it doesnt seem like they are on. Only visible under darker conditions with no direct lighting on the keyboard. ill report back after gaming conditions... currently this review is only about general use. I only play RTS and im guessing the key placement will effect my game play too.. we'll see how fast i adjust.« Back NEW Microsoft Sidewinder X6 Gaming Keyboard Backlit
